mixed media butterfly painting

This is an original acrylic painting on canvas with bead embroidered butterflies

The canvas is painted first and then the beads and sequins are stitched on top individually afterwards. It is an unusual mixed media technique and took many hours to complete.

I studied both art and then textile design at university, hence the combination of the 2 media's. I have an eye for colour, and always try and use colours that will be popular in people's homes.

Painting measures approx 24x19cm and is framed in a smooth matt black frame, with a very thin inner and outer silver edge. The frame is made from a quality wood, and not cheap plastic. The total frame size is approx 29x24cm.

Black frame is approx 2.5cm deep. It also includes a wire hanging at the back.
